We can't sell what we never collect
Most privacy policies are written to obscure. Ours is short because the honest answer is short: your financial data stays on your device, full stop. Here's everything, in plain English.
The headline: your financial data stays on your device
- The debt tracker, letter generator, settlement calculator, credit score log, and action plan all run entirely in your browser. The debts you track, the scores you log, the letters you write, and the answers you give are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. They are never transmitted to us. We could not read, sell, or leak this data even if we wanted to — we do not have it.
- Because the data lives on your device: clearing your browser data erases it, and it does not automatically follow you to other devices. That trade-off is deliberate — it is your information, in your possession.
What we do collect, and why
- If you buy a membership: our payment processor, Stripe, collects your name, email, billing address, and card details to process the payment. We never see or store your card number. From Stripe, we receive only what membership requires: your email address, a customer reference ID, and your subscription status. Stripe's privacy policy ↗ governs their processing.
- If you sign in: we set a single, encrypted, essential cookie on your device that proves your membership. It contains your customer reference and email — nothing else. We use no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, and no third-party analytics.
- If you request a sign-in link by email: the email address you enter is used once to check membership and send the link through our email delivery provider. We respond identically whether or not an address belongs to a member, so no one can use the form to learn whether you use this service.
- Server infrastructure: our host (Vercel) keeps standard, short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to operate and secure the service, as virtually every website does.
What we never do
- We never sell, rent, or share your personal information with data brokers, advertisers, lead generators, debt collectors, or anyone else.
- We never use advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts on this site.
- We take no affiliate commissions or referral fees, so we have no partners to share your data with — the attorney directory and credit monitoring links earn us nothing.
- We never contact your creditors, and we hold no record of who they are.
Your choices and rights
- Your tool data: it's already in your hands — clear your browser's site data to erase it completely.
- Your membership records (email, billing history held by Stripe): email us at support@healthydebts.com to access or delete them. We honor deletion requests except for records we are legally required to keep (such as tax records of payments).
- Depending on your state (for example, California), you may have additional legal rights to access, delete, or port your data. Because we hold so little, exercising them is simple — one email.
- You can cancel your subscription anytime via the billing portal in your account — one click, no retention process.
The boring-but-important rest
- Children: this service is for adults managing their own finances and is not directed to anyone under 18.
- Security: the site is served exclusively over HTTPS with strict security headers; membership cookies are encrypted, signed, and inaccessible to scripts.
- Changes: if this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date below. We will never quietly weaken the promises above — they are the product.
