hTdHeal Thy DebtsDo-It-Yourself Debt Settlement

The Fine Print, In Plain English

Disclosures & terms

We compete with an industry famous for burying the truth in fine print. So here's ours, written to be actually read.

What Heal Thy Debts is — and is not

  • Heal Thy Debts is an educational software platform. We provide legal and financial information, document templates, calculators, and organizational tools.
  • We are NOT a law firm, and no attorney–client relationship is created by using this site. Our content is legal information, not legal advice tailored to your situation.
  • We are NOT a debt settlement company, debt adjuster, or credit services organization. We do not negotiate with creditors on your behalf, contact creditors for you, or act as an intermediary of any kind.
  • We do NOT hold, receive, transmit, or manage your money. Any payment you make to a creditor goes directly from you to them.
  • We are NOT a credit repair organization and make no representations about improving your credit score.

No guarantees

  • Settlement outcomes depend on your creditors, your circumstances, and your follow-through. Example figures on this site (such as typical settlement percentages) are educational illustrations, not promises.
  • Laws summarized on this site change. We work to keep state-law content current, but you must verify current law with official sources or a licensed attorney before relying on it.

Important warnings we want you to read

  • Making a payment on, or acknowledging, an old debt can restart the statute of limitations in many states. Check before you act.
  • Forgiven debt of $600 or more may be reported to the IRS on Form 1099-C and may be taxable income unless an exclusion (such as insolvency) applies.
  • If you have been sued, deadlines are short and a default judgment is severe. Consult a licensed attorney immediately — many consumer attorneys offer free consultations and legal aid is free for those who qualify.
  • Stopping payments on current accounts will damage your credit. Nothing on this site advises you to stop paying any debt.

Your data

  • The debt tracker, letter generator, credit health tools, and action plan run in your browser. The financial details you type into them are stored on your device (localStorage) and are not transmitted to our servers.
  • Accounts and payments are handled through our payment processor, Stripe; we keep no separate user database. Exactly what is collected, why, and what we never do with it is spelled out in our Privacy Policy.

Billing, plans, and what “lifetime” means

  • We offer two ways to pay for full access: a monthly subscription ($79 to start, then $12/month), or a one-time lifetime payment ($297). Prices may change for new purchases, but a change never affects what you already bought.
  • The monthly subscription continues until you cancel, which you can do anytime from your billing settings — access then continues through the end of your paid period. Payments already made are generally non-refundable except where required by law.
  • “Lifetime access” means access for the operational lifetime of the Heal Thy Debts platform — not a guarantee that the service will exist forever. It includes the educational content, the 50-state legal database and its updates, the letter generators, the settlement calculator, and the debt tracker, with no further charge.
  • Lifetime access is tied to you as an individual and is non-transferable. “Fair use” applies: it covers normal personal use for managing your own debts, not automated, bulk, commercial, or reseller use.
  • Some features may rely on paid third-party services (for example, a future credit-report connection that pulls data from a credit bureau on your request). Where a feature carries an ongoing per-use cost like that, we may offer it as a separate add-on or with reasonable usage limits, even to lifetime members. We will always tell you clearly before you use anything that costs extra — your core lifetime tools above always remain included.
  • If we ever discontinue the platform, we will give lifetime members reasonable advance notice and, where appropriate, a fair remedy such as a pro-rated consideration. We will never quietly switch off access you paid for.

Referrals

  • We accept no referral fees, commissions, or compensation of any kind from attorneys, law firms, or any organization we link to. Listings are included on merit alone.
